This engine comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. Also, notable is the stop-start system that improves the vehicles fuel efficiency. As for fuel efficiency, the base engine gives you 21 city miles per gallon and 26 highway miles per gallon.
If you are looking for more power in your Acadia, you can step it up to the available 3.6-liter V6 engine. This engine option gives you 310-horsepower. For fuel efficiency, the V6 engine gives you 18 city miles per gallon and 25 highway miles per gallon.
The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee has four engine options for you to choose from. The standard engine is a 295-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine that gives you 19 city and 26 highway miles per gallon.
Then, the Jeep has three different V8 engine options. The first option is the 360-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 engine that gives you a fuel economy of 14 city and 22 highway miles per gallon. The next step up is a 6.4-liter V8 engine that gives you 475-horsepower, and finally, you can get a 6.2-liter V8 that gives you 707-horsepower. This final engine, however, only gives you 11 city and 17 highway miles per gallon.
Though they are both midsize SUVs, these two vehicles have a little different strategy when it comes to what’s under the hood. The 2018 GMC Acadia gives you two solid engines that offer decent fuel efficiency. On the other hand, the Jeep Grand Cherokee offers four engine options, the last of which gives you 707-horsepower.
The Grand Cherokee has more horsepower, but the GMC Acadia has better fuel economy, so you’ll have to decide which factor is more important to you.
Interior Features and Technology
Let’s move on to the interior features and technology. With the 2018 Acadia, you get a good number of features standard. Some of the standard features for this SUV include a rearview camera, a rear-seat alert, Teen Driver, a push-button start, tri-zone automatic climate control and more. You also get standard technology features like a 7-inch touchscreen with IntelliLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, five USB ports, a six-speaker audio system and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
The GMC Acadia also has some great available features if you are looking to upgrade. You can upgrade to get the available 8-inch touchscreen, an eight-speaker Bose surround sound system, a dual-panel sunroof and navigation.

The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee gives you a standard infotainment system that has a 7-inch touchscreen display, the Uconnect infotainment interface, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a USB port, voice command and a six-speaker audio system. You also get a rearview camera, a proximity key and push-button start standard.
You can upgrade for available features like an 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, two USB ports, satellite radio, a rear dual-screen DVD/Blu-ray entertainment system, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof and adaptive cruise control. As far as safety features go, the Grand Cherokee has available blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning with active braking, rear cross traffic alert and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Both of these vehicles have some good standard and available features. However, the GMC Acadia seems to have more features standard with features like a Wi-Fi hotspot and five USB ports standard.
